The following relates the farewell visit of the Austrian ambassador to the munificent grand mufti. On Thursday, the day after the banquet [organized by the grand vizier], the ambassador visited, for a farewell, the house of his excellency the munificent chief müfti. The ambassador was brought to the inside of the garden to the pavilion, where there was a fountain inside and he was offered a stool to sit on. When his excellency the grand mufti arrived at the location, the ambassador rose to his feet and the grand mufti sat on his seat. Sweets and coffee were served. Following a half-hour long conversation, sherbet and frankincense were served, after which the ambassador bid farewell and left. His excellency the chief mufti did not present any gifts to the ambassador.
