Project partners have granted the Institute for Habsburg and Balkan Studies of the Austrian Academy of Sciences permission to publish facsimile data within the QhoD project. Employees of this publically funded institution took images of archival sources or collected digitized items, and created descriptive metadata. The contents of the archival sources are not subject to copyright restrictions under Austrian law (Urheberrechtsgesetz), as the creators both of their ideal contents and their documentary material objects passed away more than 70 years ago (§§60-61 UrhG), and these materials are considered documents for official use (§7 UrhG). The following relates the farewell visit of the Austrian ambassador to the munificent grand mufti. On Thursday, the day after the banquet [organized by the grand vizier], the ambassador visited, for a farewell, the house of his excellency the munificent chief müfti. The ambassador was brought to the inside of the garden to the pavilion, where there was a fountain inside and he was offered a stool to sit on. When his excellency the grand mufti arrived at the location, the ambassador rose to his feet and the grand mufti sat on his seat. Sweets and coffee were served. Following a half-hour long conversation, sherbet and frankincense were served, after which the ambassador bid farewell and left. His excellency the chief mufti did not present any gifts to the ambassador.
