Decree to the commander vizier of Nissa (Niš)× × and to all judges, aides-de-camp of janissary commanders, janissary commanders, superintendents of piers, provincial notables, and functionaries that are located on the road from my threshold of felicity× to Nissa (Niš)×:

General [Damian Hugo] Count of Virmont×—may God end his days propitiously—who came to the gate of my court as grand ambassador sent a petition and requested my favor to issue my noble order [about the following matter]:

Two merchants from among Austrian× merchants, named Yanci/Janci(?) and Nikolo, along with their four protected (müsteʾmin) servants, formerly came via sea with the intention of trade to my threshold of felicity×. As per the imperial letter of agreement (ʿahdnāme-i ḥumāyūn), they fully paid the customs duties for the goods that they purchased with [his own] money and they received certificates of payment. They now intend to go back to their lands. Now, you are the aforementioned [administrators]! When the aforesaid merchants arrive and enter the administrative territory of whomever among you, after they paid their customs duty and received a certificate of payment for their goods, they shall not be injured with claims of recurrent customs duty, jizya, and other payments in violation of the imperial letter of agreement. Their garments and animals too shall not be interfered with and attacked. They shall not be prevented from passing along safely and soundly. It has been decreed that [all] act in the way described.
