Decree to the [former] grand viziers, provincial governors, judges, and to officers of imperial private properties (ḫavāṣṣ) and pious foundations that are on the road from my threshold of felicity× to Jerusalem×:

General [Damian Hugo] Count of Virmont×—may God end his days propitiously—who came to my gate that is the center of state as grand ambassador from the Roman emperor×, the paragon of the great commanders of the community of Messiah, sent a petition and requested my imperial decree [about the following matter]:

The priests named [? Fra Andreas Kas](?) (alternative reading: Franciscans?) from the clergy of Austria× who previously came from Vienna× along with the aforesaid ambassador× are bound to go to Jerusalem× to visit the Christian places of worship there and they are on their way. The aforesaid priests, on their way there and back, when they arrive and enter the administrative territory and town of whomever among you, they themselves, their garments, and animals shall not be interfered with or attacked and their passing [through your territories] shall not be prevented at stations on the road and during stages of the journey. They shall not be injured or disturbed with claims of tribute or under other pretexts in violation of my imperial letter of agreement (ʿahdnāme-i ḥumāyūn).

Thus, it has been written [in the imperial decree for all] to act in the way described.
