So is the imperial sign (nīşān-ı hümāyūn):

The ancient friendship and the state of peace between my eternal sublime state and the Roman Emperor Charles, the laudable pride of the magnates of Christendom, was improved and the edifice of mutual confidence and reliance were consolidated and made firmer. Accordingly, concerning the priests who belong to the nation of Jesus — peace be upon him — and owe allegiance to the Roman pope, it is imperative and necessary henceforward to enforce the conditions written and recorded in the imperial letters of agreement that were issued during the felicitous times of my illustrious predecessors and noble forefathers of exalted pedigree who sleep in heaven and during my reign and times of the eternal sultanate. In particular, [it is imperative and necessary to enforce] the noblest purview of the illustrious imperial sign and exalted orders granted and given as [my] favor and to protect and guard the merchants and guests as a requirement of friendship and sincerity. Therefore, I have issued this imperial sign.

I command that, in whatever way the priests who owe allegiance to the Roman pope and Jesuits have been visiting the church called the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem since the old days as per their old rituals, they shall [continue] their visits as before in the same way as per those rituals. The Greek community and other subjects of my sublime state shall not prevent them, in opposition to the ancient practice, from visiting the site. Attention shall be paid and great care shall be taken to protect and guard them and for them to be tranquil under the favor of imperial protection. Thus shall they know and [have confidence] in the noble mark.
