[1] Copy of the letter sent by his excellency, the fortunate and felicitous grand vizier×, to the ceaser of Austria×, through his ambassador. After the customary salutations, the following is conveyed in a friendly and affectionate manner: To affirm and strengthen the terms of the peace agreement concluded earlier and the bonds [established in it], in accordance with the long-established and preferred style observed between the eternal Sublime State× and your empire, your distinguished and selected ambassador, Graf Wolfgang (IV) zu Oettingen(-Wallerstein)×—may he end his days propitiously—who was sent to royal court of our sovereign which is the refuge of the mighty sultans and the sanctuary of noble emperors, has arrived here with a letter of goodwill and your gifts sent to the august and royal court. The letter and gift you sent to this friend of yours have also arrived, and the meaning of your affectionate letter and the declarations of your ambassador× regarding friendship and good neighborliness have been fully understood by this sincere friend of yours. Following this, in accordance with the requirements of the renewed mutual friendship and alliance between us, your ambassador was honored and glorified with the usual splendid ceremonial rites in the elevated court of the sultan and in the radiant presence of the sovereign. At the moment, permission and the royal leave for his return and departure have been granted, and after the issuance of the illustrious imperial letter, my sincere letter has also been penned to perform the ceremonies of goodwill and fulfill the requirements of affection as appropriate. When the letters arrive, [you should know that], as before, this friend of yours is busy with all the praiseworthy efforts and commendable deeds appropriate to these well intentions and affairs that ended with peace. With the favor of the Lord of all people, the tax-paying and non-tax paying subjects who are left to us on trust by God, the weak and the oppressed, may obtain tranquility and rest by God's grace; [About this matter,] the approval of the mighty Sublime State× and the illustrious sultanate, which is steadfast and continuous in its reign, has been obtained. And all matters demanded by your side for the completion of the treaty and agreement affairs have been made known to us; the required time for the implementation and completion of those matters is also recorded and prescribed in the treaties. It is our hope that no permission will be given to any distraction or delay by listening to and heeding the statements of the weak-minded and that, through firm warnings, everything necessary will be done to complete and perfect the matters that ensure the realization of this great friendship. By the will of God the exalted, with the completion of the means for achieving mutual love and the instruments for manifesting mutual affection, at the earliest possible time, it is evident and clear that the establishment of solid friendship and continuous alliance and their continuation as they deserve befits the contents of the treaties and it is appropriate to the harmony and union of both sides. It is apparent that the quick and successful conclusion of the peace terms and the friendship established between through that peace will become a source of envy for ill-wishers and a cause of joy for sincere and loyal friends. May complete health endure, and may encompassing goodwill be everlasting.
