The grand ambassador consulted the English ambassador William Paget on the issue, who deemed the response dangerous to the diplomatic efforts and advised to continue with the work of count Marsigli's border demarcation commission while trying to resolve the dispute in Vienna.;
Paget also tried to mediate with Mavrokordatos, the result of which was also added as an attachement to this letter.;
During Paget's visit with the dragoman, Oettingen-Wallerstein had his first visit with the Şeyhülislam and presented his gift, which he judged to be not adequate considering the clergymen's high standing in Constantinople.;
The dispute with Mavrokordatos continued for a few days and Oettingen-Wallerstein attached four more documents about it, furthermore the possibility of a settlement and the grand ambassador's objections to it are described.;
Eventually Oettingen-Wallerstein received Mavrokordatos for another meeting, in which the latter complained about count Marsigli and accused him of erecting fortification on the border, which obstruct the peace effort and demanded a substitute for the count. The grand ambassador assured an honest examination of the issue and requested a document listing the complaints.;
Regarding Novi, Grad Mavrokordatos pushed for a continuation of the border demarcation during the meeting, stating the place to be too insignificant to delay the process and too small to really hurt the emperor, which Oettingen-Wallerstein opposed strongly and pointed out his competences' limits.;
Lastly, the requested list of complaints about Marsigli was attached to the relation and Oettingen-Wallerstein states he was unsure about an alleged prohibition of further fortifications in the treaty of Karlowitz, reminds of the untrustworthyness of Mavrokordatos and hopes to have the issues resolved in Vienna rather than in Constantinople.
