Abstract
Oettingen-Wallerstein reports to have received the orders regarding the border dispute on Novi Grad and explains he discussed his proceeding in the matter with the English ambassador Paget during his revisit. The advice he received was to not adress the issue directly with the Ottomans but to talk to Alexandros Mavrokordatos.; At the suggested meeting with Mavrokordatos, Oettingen-Wallerstein had a long discussion, which involved the specific clauses of the treaty of Karlowitz. After the revisit at the grand ambassadors residence Mavrokordatos suggested to postpone the issue until the rest of the border is agreed upon and emphasized the need for friendship and peace between the empires. The suggestion was rejected by Oettingen-Wallerstein, and he explains his reasoning to the emperor.; After receiving no immediate response in the following days, the grand ambassador prepared a written inquiry and wanted to also bring up other contested points on the issue of border demarcation, whoch the English ambassador strongly advied against to prevent the Ottomans from mixing the issues and blur the discussions avoiding definitive answers.; Oettingen-Wallerstein explains he waits for the answer of Mavrokordatos to arrive and will send his response to the last orders from Vienna together with a copy of that answer.;
