Abstract
Oettingen-Wallerstein reports about his slow jorney on the lower Danube, where he had to abandon his ships in Svishtov due to the ice on the river and gifted away his ships, his very own to the prince of Wallachia.;
From then on the grand embassy moved over land to Russe and will depart for Edirne, though travel will be very slow due to the snow and winter weather demaging the streets.;
Oettingen-Wallerstein reports two deaths occured in his retinue, one unresolved, the other following a dispute between soldiers.;
Constantin Brâncoveanu, prince of Wallachia, sent a delegation to the grand embassy which presented gifts to Oettingen-Wallerstein and requested good relations with the Habsburgs, to which the grand ambassador states his opinion regarding trade and assaults by Habsburg troops onto Wallachian subjects.;
Hungarian rebels exiled to the Ottoman Empire have been settled and supplied in the mountains east of Sofia and the Ottomans expect them to cause trouble and be eliminated completely in the future. Oettingen-Wallerstein also mentions that Imre Thököly awaits him in Constantinople, while his wife and son supposedly died.;
Oettingen-Wallerstein once again remarks on the good treatment he is subjected to by the Ottomans, even easing his financial burden and advises Vienna on how to handle the Ottoman grand embassy in return.;
Regarding christians unwillingly detained in the Ottoman Empire met along the way, the grand ambassador reports that he took an orphan boy with him and paid for the freedom of 14 women from Habsburg lands and some Polish families and sent them to Transylvania through Wallachia, having ensured the support of the prince in advance. He asks the emperor to aid in this matter and praises his interpreter Lachkowitz for his efforts achieving that.
