Abstract
After confirming the reception of instructions from Vienna, Oettingen-Wallerstein states that the danger of disease is apparently over and neither the city of Belgrade nor the Ottoman grand embassy are infected anymore and pose no threat to spread the disease into Habsburg lands.;
The embassy exchange has been postponed due to the exhaustion of the Ottoman embassy, requests of Oettingen-Wallerstein to proceed earlier were denied. An Ottoman official sent by the vezier was not received by the Austrian grand ambassador since the negotiated protocol prohibits visits between the embassys until the last day before the exchange.;
Oettingen-Wallerstein complains about the high costs he has to face to maintain the embassy and pleads the Emperor to help him.;
Oettingen-Wallerstein explains he studied the conduct during Walter Leslie's grand embassy exchange in 1665 and points out a few key differences to his case. He complains that the military commanders with them are overprivileged by the negotiated protocol and that the Ottomans will appear much more impressive during the ceremony because of a lack of horses on the Habsburgs side.;
The grand ambassador laments the apparent lack of the searched for prisoner in Bruck an der Leitha but is glad he now has documents that will show the efforts made to the reis ül-küttab.;
Regarding the debt of the Transylvanian estates with Alexandros Mavrocordatos, a message arrived from the diet and Oettingen-Wallerstein requests the emperor put pressure on the estates, although he expresses satisfaction that he will be able to at least show some progress to Mavrocordatos.;
There have not been any news from count Marsigli and his border demarcation commission since the 10th of October 1699.;
Regarding the European prisoners of war in Crimea and Belgrade, Oettingen-Wallerstein promises to do as much as he can, though the Ottoman officials in Belgrade seem hesitant to a prisoner exchange, claiming their prisoners to be of much higher quality and rank than the ones on the Habsburg side.;
Finally Oettingen-Wallerstein requests confirmation regarding the adressees of the presents and gifts his embassy carries. He also laments that there are no presents at all for anyone but the highest ranking members of the Ottoman elite and he pleads Vienna to send at least a few extra presents that are in high demand in the Ottoman Empire.
