Abstract
The inspectors that were sent to examine the crucial spots alongside the border, returned from Croatia.;
As soon as Oettingen-Wallerstein receives this letter, he shall prepare for his last audiences with the sultan and the Grand Vizier. The crossing of the border should take place around October 20th at Stari Slankamen so that both Grand Embassies will arrive in their respective home towns by the end of November. Oettingen-Wallerstein shall report about the audiences, the day of his departure and when he plans to arrive at Belgrade. This information is crucial for the dismissal of the Ottoman Grand Ambassador, who is closer to Stari Slankamen. It would be good to know about the results of Oettingen-Wallerstein's audiences by then.;
Oettingen-Wallerstein shall do his best to settle the release of the prisoners and make the necessary preparations so that the future Habsburg resident can continue from there.;
Oettingen-Wallerstein receives various letters that are necessary for the ceremony of the border crossing.;
Oettingen-Wallerstein's expenses for the release of the prisoners will be refunded. He is also allowed to take a loan in case that his financial means should not be sufficient to release further prisoners. Unfortunately, the Habsburg domains only collected a small part of the money for funding. They ask for documents with information on the individuals, that were released, and on the amount of money that was spent per person. The last Grand Ambassador Leslie did not provide this information correctly.;
Oettingen-Wallerstein's complaints about the difficulties he has in Constantinople were forwarded to the Ottoman Grand Ambassador.;
Concerning the border, some frotresses were destroyed and the border was defined further except for the area around Novi.Work is gouing fast now and can be finished soon. There will also be further negotiations with the Ottoman Grand Ambassador about Novi soon. The pasha of Bosnia complained about the renovation of some Habsburg fortresses in the border region but did the same on the Ottoman side of the border. Oettingen-Wallerstein shall complain about the renovation of the Ottoman fortresses just as the pasha did.;
Oettingen-Wallerstein shall remind the Sublime Porte to relocate the Hungarian rebels around Thököly to a distant place, where they can do no harm. This is an essential part of the peace treaty. It is reported that some rebels were at Timișoara, which is not acceptable. The Ottoman Grand Ambassador was already confronted with this news.;
The Viennese court requests a copy of the peace treaty between the Russian and the Ottoman Empire.;
The scandal caused by the French ambassador in Constantinople is well noticed in Vienna.;
It is good to hear that the patriarch of Aleppo was restored to his office. Oettingen-Wallerstein shall also protect the bishop of Chios.;
Last points concerning the debts of Transylvania and Debrecen need to be cleared. Oettingen-Wallerstein shall find out, under what conditions the house, that Transylvania offers as a compensation, was confiscated by the Ottomans.;
The Hungarian Court Chancellery will make inquiries about the four Hungarians that claim to be loyal kinsmen of the emperor.;
Concerning Ragusa, the position remains unchanged: it should neither be oppressed by Venice nor financially ruined by the Ottoman Empire. But Oettingen-Wallerstein's actions must remain undetected.;
The Viennese court resents the suggestion to combine the position of the resident with that of a trades consule as the legal status of the two is different. It is not yet decided, who will be responsible for the trading agendas.;
The widow who complained about her late husband's unpaid pay will receive the money soon.;
A certain Clawitsch shall be helped to secretly leave the Ottoman Empire and return to Habsburg territory.;
The resident will be announced soon. In case that Oettingen-Wallerstein will leave Constantinople befor his arrival, he shall leave some money for him with the Dutch or the English ambassador.;
Oettingen-Wallerstein shall report from his return journey.
