To Vezir Halil Pasha×, Governor of Bosnia×, and Vezir Ali Pasha, Governor of Belgrade×, as well as the judges situated on the road from the border of Austria× over Bosnia× to Belgrade×, and the provincial notables and functionaries of the aforementioned districts:
Austrian× merchants have submitted a petition to my exalted court, stating that, by the will of God the Exalted, a peace and accord has been established between the eternal sublime state× and the Austrian ceasar× to improve the conditions of the subjects and to restore the lands and cities. In accordance with the protocols exchanged between the two states and the imperial edict whose issuance was a mark of honor, it is requested that the merchants and their associates, as well as members of other nations under their protection, be allowed to travel safely and securely through the quarters they pass, conduct their trade freely, and not be subjected to any interference or harm. In response to this request, an honorable edict has been issued, instructing that the matter be handled as outlined. So is the decree. 18–27 August 1699
