Abstract
The courier Christoph Ganawitzer has arrived with an order for compensation for the Pentele and Ercsi raids. According to Kurtz, it is unfortunate that reparation should be granted, because then a similar claim could be made for all the other raids. The pasha of Buda continues to obstruct the departure of Kurtz and his entourage from Buda on various pretexts. The envoy begs the emperor not to believe Ottoman rumours about him. Kurtz claims that he is being held hostage because of the forthcoming commission, and asks that his release be obtained by all means, even by suspending the commission. He has not yet learned what the Transylvanian envoys are doing in Buda, but it is rumoured that Bethlen is seeking permission to join the commission in person.
