Abstract
Kurtz hopes that the courier sent yesterday will arrive safely, and that the letter he sent with him will inform the emperor of the plight the merchants have caused him. He repeatedly requests that the courier be sent back quickly with the necessary dispatches. His departure continues to be delayed, so the envoy asks the emperor to write to the Porte to ensure that he leaves as soon as possible. Kurtz may leave in six weeks, as soon as his guide arrives.
