Abstract
From Belgrade, Kurtz arrived in Sofia, and plans to continue his journey to
Constantinople. It is necessary to send a special courier to inform the
emperor of the deposition of the pasha of Buda. The new pasha, Bebr Mehmed, was executed
almost immediately by the sultan, yet Sufi Mehmed remained the governor-general of Buda, and
can still be held accountable for his earlier promises. The envoy's money is running out,
although further gifts will be needed both in Buda and Constantinople. He asks for
money and fresh news of Gábor Bethlen. He is waiting for his new credentional letter from
Vienna to the new sultan.
