Following the presentation of abundance of prayers and praises worthy of friendship, here is the friendly communication: Formerly, during the tenure of the late Yakub Pasha as governor and ruler of the Bosnian province, the abandoned tower named Bak was conquered. Except for its gate, the tower required no repairs. However, the commanders of Zadar and Senj, without regard for the conditions of the agreement and peace, repaired the gate overnight and stationed thirty musketeers inside. In addition, there is another ruined fortress near the sea, close to the Islamic border. When they attempted to repair it by bringing materials via ships, Mustafa Bey, the governor of the Klis district, confronted them. Unable to face Mustafa Bey, they fled and he demolished the fortress. Currently, they are still gathering materials to construct a new fortification around the mentioned tower, as reported in detail by the aforementioned Mustafa Bey. When the matter was presented to the throne of His Majesty, our fortunate and prosperous sultan – may God honor his support – he declared, “Complaints from the King’s side never cease; why do situations contrary to peace always originate from their side?” Regarding this matter, when the removal of the captains inSenj was previously requested, it was reported that they had indeed been removed. However, two captured Uskoks from among those who had come with the intent to harm the well-protected domains contrary to the agreement, were sent to the imperial council by the aforementioned Klis Bey. Upon questioning, they confirmed that it was indeed the same captain who arranged the deployment of the musketeers in the tower. Consequently, a detailed imperial letter was sent to you. At present, the repair of the ruined tower – which was conquered eighty years ago and is part of the well-protected domains - by your side contrary to the peace agreement was inappropriate. It is necessary that, after receiving this letter of sincere friendship, per your long-standing abundant loyalty to the threshold of felicity and your profound special attachment, your border commanders are firmly instructed and emphasized to always work for peace and order without delay. As per the sultanic letter, they should remove the soldiers from the mentioned tower and refrain from seizing or taking control of it. No actions contrary to the sultan’s approval or against peace and order should be undertaken. The mentioned captain should be removed per the conditions of the agreement and replaced with a reliable individual who will adhere to the agreement between us.
