      <abstract>
        <p>In a letter dated January 1577, Sokollu Mehmed Pasha addressed Emperor Rudolf II and emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and promoting friendship between their respective empires. The letter emphasized the punctual payment of taxes as a crucial symbol of loyalty and commitment. Sokollu Mehmed Pasha discussed the recent tensions that had arisen due to border violations and political changes in Poland and urged Emperor Rudolf II to honor the existing treaties and not to interfere in matters outside his jurisdiction, especially regarding the appointment of the Polish king. He warned against future violations and emphasized that mutual respect and adherence to diplomatic protocols were essential to ensure stability and prosperity in the two territories.</p>
